TOTTENHAM 6-2 LEICESTER CITY

Tottenham returned to form with a thumping 6-2 victory over Leicester City.

The Lilywhites were under pressure after losing to Sporting Lisbon a few days earlier. The fans and Antonio Conte himself were livid with the performance put up by the team. Conte responded by ringing the changes. Lenglet and Sanchez came in for Davies and Romero. Sessegnon came in for Emerson and Kulusevski for Son.

The change appeared to have no effect when Leicester took an early lead through a Youri Tielemens penalty. Davinson Sanchez returned to his nightmare ways when he was nutmegged near the halfway line before chasing all the way back to the box and fouling Leicester's James Justin resulting in a penalty. Belgian international Tielemens took the penalty but it was saved by Hugo Lloris only for the referee to order a re take due to Lloris coming off his line.

Tielemens converted his second chance to put the Foxes ahead. At this point things looked gloomy for Spurs but they didn’t have to wait long before Harry Kane levelled the score. From a short corner Kulusevski put in a deep left footed cross which was met by Kane who headed home at the far post past Darren Ward.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium erupted and it wasn’t long before the crowd were off their seats again when Eric Dier headed home a Ivan Perisic corner. Things were on the up for Spurs but they weirdly sat back and allowed Leicester to dominate the game and this led to James Maddison bringing the scores level after Tim Castagne out jumped Sessegnon heading down for Maddison to hook home on 41 minutes.

With the scores level at 2-2 half time was welcomed by Antonio Conte who it seemed tore into his team who responded two minutes after the restart when Rodrigo Bentancur robbed Wil Ndidi 40 yards out and ran towards before slotting a sublime finish into the bottom corner of the net. Leicester upped their efforts and had a number of chances to level including a shot which brought out a world class save by Hugo Lloris.

Midway through the second half Conte called for the big guns to shore up the team with Son coming on for Kulusevski and Romero also coming on. Within moments of coming on Son put Tottenham 4-2 up after being given the ball halfway to the Leicester goal running forward before jinking right of the defender and curling a wonderful shot from 25 yards into the top corner. Finally the South Korean had broken his duck for the season.

Nine minutes later Son scored again this time after receiving the ball on the right side of the box he unleashed a stunning left curler into the far post. The stadium erupted with joy. A minute later Son was through on goal but wasted an opportunity to get his hat trick. Seconds later good work in the midfield area allowed Kane to put in a cross for Romero who missed an open goal but was spared when the goal was ruled offiside.

A minute later Son scored again to secure his hat trick but was made to wait after VAR checked for an offside. It was ruled a goal and the Korean was able to complete his standard goal celebration.

The win lifted Tottenham into second place just behind a rampant Man City
