Our Story
The Shelfside Web story began in 1998. A member of the Shelfside team had contacts with the old Spurs2000 website and often contributed with comments on the 2000 platform. Later in 1998 Shelfman spoke to a number of friends in London, Cambridge and Brighton about the new fan web craze and the group decided to get in on the act. The site was built by the end of 1998 with Shelfman, Aails, Joe, Wils and Jamie been the main contributors.
The site continued well into the 2000's and over a decade later the team worked alongside Cambridge United supporting friends to bring the amberarmy.net fan site. The site was popular and working in tandem with the club and the women's team brought alot info the the wider CU community.
Shelfside continued to grow to the beginning of the 2010's when it was decided that the site needed a refresh. Disputes on the strategy and the vision moving forward led to the site being 'parked' until a suitable resolution was found. In the late 2010's the Shelf group spoke about old times and discussed a vision for the site and agreed to look at coming back. After speaking to others on various platforms the the group looked to return for the second quarter of 2022 with additional contributors. The vision has been streamlined with longevity seen as most important consideration. We are back and aim to stay.
